Alfie's owner originally contacted the club to ask for some nutritional advice , but not long after we were contacted again as the owner was in a dilemma as she had to look after her seriously ill mother. This meant commuting back and forth and she realised that this would not be fair on Alfie, but clearly was very upset at having to rehome her puppy.
The breeder did offer to take him back, but Alfie's owner wanted to play a part in vetting the owner who would be taking him, so she decided she would like our help instead, and also that we could offer her the opportunity of her meeting any potential owner, and playing a part in his rehome. She also ideally wanted someone who already had a cockapoo, as a playmate for Alfie.
On advertising him, we quickly got interest from both club members and non members. One of our club members Mandy sounded ideal, especially as she already had a cockapoo called Florence and lived not too far away, so was put in contact with Alfie's owner.
However Alfie's owner, had a change a heart as she was finding this very difficult to give up the dog she dearly loved, so we decided to stop advertising him for rehome, whilst she tried to see if she could still have him whilst commuting back and forth to her mothers. Sadly with a heavy heart, she realised she couldn't manage and in the interests of Alfie she decided to proceed with rehoming and with club member Mandy.
It was a sad time for the owner, but she found comfort in the knowledge that he was going to a fab new home.
This is update from new owner Mandy:
Alfie has been with us for 2 weeks now and has settled in beautifully. Initially we had a few issues..... Florence growling if he went near her and seperation anxiety.
Now Florence loves him, actually, she hassles him to bits if he isn't playing with her.
The separation anxiety is improving, he did cry every time we left the room and cried through the night but this is getting better and better.
Alfie has now had a hair cut and has been to the vets (Sorry Alfie) to sort his boy bits!!
Alfie is lovely, he has a fantastic temperament although trying to stop him playing and wrecking everything in sight with his lampshade (cone collar) whilst he is supposed to be recovering is impossible and he is a real piggy when it comes to food !!
Alfie has made our family complete.
Thank you Shirley

Update 30th July 2014:
Alfie has really settled in and is a much loved member of the family, although he is not keen on rubbish trucks and milk crates lol and Mandy kindly sends his former owner pictures and updates.
Here he is with Florence on the left and cousin Barney who came to stay when his parents were on holiday:
