Dexter was the last cockapoo that our club rehomed using our own homes to foster. After being contacted by his owner for help. Dexter was kindly fostered by our rehome co-ordinator at that time Sarah . Sarah assessed his needs whilst getting to know him and set about looking for the right home for him.

We honestly weren’t planning on having another dog after we lost our bearded collie Jessie after 14 years. However 4 years on I was working with a friend of mine Sarah who had two cockapoos of her own. I just fell in love with them, I just loved everything about them!
I got the feeling it was time to bring another dog into our home and really felt a cockapoo would be lovely for our family. After discussions with my husband and children we agreed that if the right dog came along it would be great, but we decided we would like to rehome rather than have a puppy.
Sarah was also involved in the rehoming of cockapoos through the Cockapoos Owners Club. I chatted with her about this and we discussed if the right dog came along she would let me know. Within two weeks I had a phone call about Dexter he was being rehomed for the second time, poor Dexter had just had rather a run of bad luck, from what I am aware his first family were finding it difficult to meet the needs of having a dog , he was then passed to another family who although loved him very much had an old cat that Dexter enjoyed to chase and bark at. Understandably the cat wasn’t coping well with this and the family had to make the decision to find a new home for Dexter. The Cockerpoo Owners Club had found Dexter a family to go to , but they had to drop out as they had just found out they were moving. This is when Sarah asked if I would be interested in meeting Dexter. We had a couple of meetings and walks with Dexter and all fell in love with him from the moment we met him.
We have now had Dexter for 4 months and it’s like he’s always been with us. He makes us all laugh and smile every day he is such a good boy and such a pleasure to have around. Even my son who has always been able to take or leave dogs loves him to bits! We really felt Dexter was meant to be with us, as we discovered he was born the day after our dear old dog Jessie passed away.
Thank you for bringing Dexter into our lives!
