About Anne:
Anne Rogers is a qualified professional pet dog trainer and behaviourist practicing in Ireland. Initially she practiced as a veterinary nurse at home and abroad before catching the behaviour bug and returning to study biological sciences at honours degree level.
Anne is a founding member of APDT Ireland and is CAP2 certified (with distinctions).
She works with a large canine welfare organisation, A Dog's Life, as a training/behaviour consultant and board member through which she sees hundreds of dogs and their people every year.
Anne has worked in education for over 14 years teaching students on animal care courses at various higher education levels. In late 2012 she and her business partner launched AniEd, an education organisation developing the next generation of animal care workers, trainers and behaviourists. This involves course development, industry networking and the organisation, supervision and participation in continuing education events for professionals at all stages of their careers.
Anne continues her studies with a masters degree and participates in regular continuing education events such as seminars, webinars and short courses.
Anne says :
"My name is Anne and I was honoured to be asked by the Club to be the training/behaviour consultant for this wonderful group. I love that responsible pet ownership, breeding and care are promoted here - four paws up!!"
Please Note
The Cockapoo Owners Club promotes and supports positive reward based training techniques such as those taught by Anne and others. We do not recommend nor endorse the use of aversives such as water sprays, rattle bottles and spray collars nor the outdated training using " dominance/alpha role model" and Pack leadership" methods.
We also don't recommend any of the following:
Alpha rolling ( pinning a dog down)
Holding a puppys mouth shut tight to stop nipping or grabbing by scruff of neck and growling or shouting at puppy.
Hitting with newspaper or any other means
Rubbing dog noses in toilet accidents
Shock /Prong collars.
You do not need to be dominant and seen to be the leader and your dog subservient to make them a well trained dog! More info here:
